Heading West for SXSW & NY Tech wants a piece of it

Conferences are tiring and messy. Plus, quite frankly, NYorkers just don’t have that much time so we gladly helped our friends at Simande / WeAreNYtech collaborate on a fun build-of-a-little project to show who is heading out to Austin for SXSW.

The New York Observer explains it best and we hope to connect with you live over a Texan sized cerveza or two, or three…

Besides Subway’s lame attempt at bringing FebruAny to the common vernacular, February breezed by and we have successfully launched some pretty cool new updates to WHObyYOU.  Or at least we think so anyway.

We thank you for the feedback as brutal and lovable as they come.  Mainly lovable because Valentine’s Day is every day at our house.

And the winner is…………………..?

First off, we’d like to thank everyone that joined up in the competition and gave it their shot.  There was a LOT of activity on the site…. Here are some stats:

  • 67 new users signed up
  • People followed others, 259 times
  • 1200+ recommendations were made
  • The site received 3142 visits in that time span

The winner, with 105 agreed-with recommendations is Michael McCune (http://www.whobyyou.com/u/michael). Michael has a total of 208 recommendations.

Though there is no second place price, a special mention goes to Erik Hermann who came in close, with 91 agreed-with recommendations. Erik has 193 recommendations to date. (http://www.whobyyou.com/u/erikherrmann)

So, congratulations! A new iPad is coming your way Michael…

Thanks to all, and stay posted.  We will do this again very soon.

Best,

The WHObyYOU Team.

Sweetness.

The competition was a HUGE success.  If you didn’t know, we held a competition to celebrate our new design launch spanning the 3 days of TechCrunch Disrupt.

During that time people input more than 1200 recommendations. We are incredibly happy with the outcome and wanted to thank everyone who worked hard to win, as well as those who helped them win!

We will be announcing the winner in the next few… stay posted!!!
